Centenary Institute

Professor Jennifer Gamble heads the Vascular Biology Lab in the Centre for Healthy Ageing at the Centenary Institute, Sydney. She has a particular interest in the ageing endothelium and its impact in age-related disease. Her lab is focussed on cellular ageing or senescence and the biological changes which occur in the senescent endothelium. The disease focus is Alzheimer’s disease where the lab has recently shown that senescent endothelial cells are associated with breakdown of the blood brain barrier and vascular damage (Ting et al Geroscience 2023). The lab has a major interest in the development of new therapeutics which mend the damaged vessels and may limit disease progression.
